Durham County Sheriff’s Detention Officer Brooklyn Maynard was killed when her vehicle was struck by a stolen car.

NC – Durham County Sheriff’s Detention Officer Brooklyn Maynard was
killed off duty when her personal vehicle was struck by a car involved
in a police chase.

Maynard, 24, was driving her Hyundai Sonata in the area of Northgate
Mall at about 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 2 when she was T-boned by a stolen
vehicle that was running from police, according to WTVD.
She was killed in the collision that ended the 10-minute police chase.
The Honda Accord,
which police said had been stolen at gunpoint, also struck a Chevrolet
Impala in the crash, injuring its occupants. No police vehicles were
involved in the wreck, WTVD reported.
