Yesterday morning a tragic event occurred in Nacogdoches County claiming the life of two people and leaving a 14 year old child in critical condition. As reported yesterday, first responders responded to a residential fire on Andy Lane shortly after 6:00 am. The fire claimed the life of two Nacogdoches Women.

The victims have been identified as Cecilia Watkins 58 years of age and Mary Bates 61 years of age from Nacogdoches, Texas. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the peace Kerry Don Williamson for both victims.

A 14 year old child also suffered severe injuries from the house fire and was revived at the scene by emergency personnel.  She was later air lifted to a Dallas Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
