Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3600 Laura Koppe


A man critically injured in a crash at 3600 Laura Koppe Road about 4 p.m. on October 30 has died from his injuries.  

The identity of the victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Northeast Patrol Division Officer J. Mixon reported:  

The driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound in the 8900 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road, ran the red light at the intersection of Laura Koppe Road and struck a yellow Hummer H3 traveling eastbound on Laura Koppe.  The pickup truck then struck a utility pole.

The drivers of both vehicles and three male passengers, 17, 17, and 15,  in the pickup truck were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Doctors pronounced the driver of the Hummer (victim) deceased on Thursday (November 15).  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Shooting at 7401 Cullen Boulevard


Houston police are investigating the shooting of two men at 7401 Cullen Boulevard about 8:15 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 15).

The victims, both 20 years of age, were transported to an area hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers Z. Brumley and A. Barker reported:

The victims were getting into their vehicle in the parking lot of a gas station at the above address when one or more suspects in a gold Chevrolet Impala with shiny chrome rims drove by and fired shots at the victims.  The suspects then fled in the vehicle.  Paramedics were called and transported the victims to the hospital.

The suspects are described only as at least two light-complected black males wearing black hoodies.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 9988 Windmill Lakes Boulevard


Charges have been filed against a robbery suspect wounded by a male at 9988 Windmill Lakes Boulevard about 9 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 14).

The suspect, Angel Alejandro Lopez Arriaga (H/m, 18), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 182nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Lopez Arriaga, who is hospitalized, is not available at this time.

The male shooter (robbery victim), 27, was not injured.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers C. Grahmann and R. Naughton reported:

The male victim drove to a parking space in the apartment complex at the above address and was getting ready to get out of his car when another vehicle stopped in front of his, blocking him.  The driver of the vehicle then pulled around behind the victim and stopped again.  At that time, the suspect (Lopez Arriaga) got out of his vehicle and was armed with a gun. The victim, who has a license to carry a handgun, pulled his weapon in fear for his life, thinking Lopez Arriaga was going to rob him.  The victim discharged his weapon as Lopez Arriaga was pointing his weapon at him.  Lopez Arriaga sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
