At least 6 people were newly arrested or charged with murder in August, according to records obtained by mySA.com.

In July, three murder suspects were newly arrested or charged. August's tally brings the total number for 2018 to 52.

Among those arrested in August is Fernando Hernandez, who is accused of fatally shooting his wife on August 3. Hernandez then tried to kill himself, but survived the gunshot wound, police said.
