Shortly before 9:00 Sunday night, September 16, 2018, Richmond officers were dispatched to what was believed to be a major vehicle accident at the Lamar Park Apartment Complex located at 1800 FM 1640.  As officers arrived at the scene they discovered an unresponsive subject in a ditch near the complex.  Investigation showed that the victim had been shot and crashed his vehicle while trying to get away.  The 23 year old victim was transported to Oak Bend Emergency Room in Richmond where he was pronounced dead upon his arrival.  Police gathered information from witnesses at the scene and the investigation to positively identify a suspect continues.  The motive for the shooting is not known at this time.  The name of the victim is not being released until all family members have been notified.  This is an active investigation and further information is limited at this time.  Further details will be provided as information becomes available.
