Today, Corporal Michael Pleytez with Constable Mark Herman’s Office was recognized as the August 2018 Officer of the Month by the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. On August 17, 2018, while on patrol, Corporal Michael Pleytez observed a disturbance in the 23200 block of US 290 in a parking lot in which several citizens were struggling with a male suspect who had physically assaulted a victim in an attempt to steal her purse.

Further investigation revealed the victim owned a check cashing business and had just withdrawn $75,000.00 from a local bank before being followed by the suspects to the location. The first suspect attempted to snatch the purse from the female victim who fought hard and refused to give up her purse.
A second male suspect arrived and exited a vehicle and joined in the assault before fleeing in his vehicle after running over the victims.

After an extensive investigation Corporal Pleytez was able to identify the second suspect that ran over the victims and charged both males suspects with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. In addition Corporal Pleytez was able identified and file a charge of Robbery on a third suspect who was discovered to be the girlfriend of one of the males and an employee at the bank where the cash was withdrawn.

Corporal Michael Pleytez’ quick actions and investigative skill allowed him to arrest three violent criminals who were preying on citizens in Northwest Harris County. He is commended for a job well done.
