Yesterday evening Lufkin PD responded to a motorcycle vs. car crash in the 2200 block of Atkinson Drive.

The accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. when Crystal Tovar, 31, of Lufkin, pulled out of her driveway on Atkinson Drive in a Dodge Challenger into the path of a westbound motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, whose name is not yet being released,  was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Lufkin with serious injuries and later flown to Memorial Hermann in Houston.

As of 8:45 a.m. he remained there in critical condition. We will continue to check in with hospital staff throughout the day for updates on his status.

Tovar was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a private drive and no insurance. She was not physically injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
