On Thursday, August 9, 2018, a Galveston Co. Sheriff’s Office deputy was flagged down by a subject that had sustained a shark bite while swimming in Crystal Beach.  The 42 year old w/m informed the deputy that he had been swimming by the first sand bar when he felt the bite.  He walked to shore and alerted the deputy who then transported him to the EMS station for first aid while awaiting transport to the hospital.  Subject is now at UTMB receiving care.
