BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) -- The police chief from the Santa Fe school district is coming to Bastrop Wednesday to talk to school leaders throughout Central Texas about ways to improve school safety.

He plans to discuss the lessons learned from the shooting that left eight students and two teachers dead.

The police chief will be joined by the Santa Fe superintendent, who will discuss what measures they had in place to protect students prior to the shooting, what they did when the gunman opened fire and what they plan to do going forward as a result of the shooting.

AISD's assistant police chief Chris Evoy is attending the event.
