National Safe Boating Week is an annual observance sponsored by the National Safe Boating Council, and endorsed and promoted by the U.S. Coast Guard. National Safe Boating Week is the launch of the 2017 North American Safe Boating Campaign.

National Safe Boating Week is held May 20th -26th. The campaign promotes safe and responsible boating and the value of voluntary, consistent life jacket wear by recreational boaters.

As part of National Safe Boating Week, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will hold several voluntary vessel safety check events. The free voluntary vessel safety checks provide a peace of mind that your boat meets minimum safety standards and that in an emergency you will have the necessary equipment to save lives and summon help.

The vessel safety check events will held at Isla Blanca County Park boat ramp on South Padre Island and White Sand boat ramp in Port Isabel on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Adolph Thomae Jr. County Park in Arroyo City and the public boat ramp in Port Mansfield on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.??
