The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office currently has multiple openings for jailers.
JOB SUMMMARY AND PRINICIPLE DUTIES:
Supervise daily inmate activities in a county jail setting; maintain custody and control of inmates in your assigned area.
High school diploma or successfully obtained a GED;
Possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record;
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test; pass a comprehensive background check, to include a search of local, state, and U.S. national records and fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record; subject to a pre-employment polygraph; pass a physical readiness test and must be a US citizen or naturalized citizen for TCOLE certification.
Starting salary for entry level jailers (no experience) is $31,343.54 ($15.07 per hour).
Starting salary for experienced jailers is dependent on VERIFIABLE TCOLE licensed experience.
January 1, 2015, will bring a salary increase of $2,500 for all jailers, plus an additional percentage increase if Commissioner’s Court approves an increase for other county employees.
