Friends of a family killed Sunday by an alleged drunken driver engaged in a high-speed chase with police are asking for the public's assistance to help two surviving sons pay for the funeral of their parents, brother and uncle.
Rafael Guerrero, 41; wife Alejandra Guerrero, 38; their son Luis Angel Guerrero, 13; and Alejandra's brother Gilberto Ortega Jr., 25, were killed Sunday evening when a Dodge Durango driven by Juan Garcia Ahuezoteco, 23, struck their vehicle during a high-speed chase with Dickinson police.
Dickinson Police Officer Daniel Banda had attempted to stop Ahuezoteco after seeing his vehicle swerve and noticed he was driving without his headlights on. A brief chase ensued with speeds reaching more than 100 miles per hour that eventually led to the deadly crash at Deats and Ohio streets in League City.
An online fundraiser has been established for Rafael and Alejandra Guerrero's surviving children, Sebastian and Daniel, who were not involved in the accident.
A $10,000 goal has been set. Funds raised will help the surviving sons pay for their parents' funeral and memorial service.
Ahuezoteco and his passenger, cousin Alejandro Molina, also were killed in the accident, which also knocked out power in the area when the Durango struck a light pole.
