League City police arrested a 20-year old man wanted in connection with several cases in the city.

Justin Andrew Barnett was taken into custody after League City detectives followed up on a tip leading them to a residence in the Bayou Brae subdivision.

The tip provided police information that Barnett was hiding in the subdivision on Monday afternoon.

Barnett was wanted for felony theft charges and is also in numerous other crimes in League City. While detectives conducted surveillance, League City patrol officers went to the residence where Barnett was believed to be hiding. Barnett fled on foot and after establishing a perimeter and searching the area, he was captured with K-9 assistance from “Chico.”

“The arrest of Barnett is shining example of the collaboration between the League City community and police in an effort to keep our city safe. The men and women of the League City Police Department take pride in serving the citizens of League City,” said Chief Michael Kramm. “While we do not affect all of the factors involved in the low crime rates leading to our ranking as the fourth safest city in Texas, there is no doubt that the quality and quantity of effort on the part of all League City Police Department employees contributes greatly. This commitment was once again demonstrated last night when our Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol officers worked tirelessly to locate and arrest Justin Barnett.”

League City police acknowledged the public’s assistance in apprehending Barnett.

Barnett’s charges include Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; Evading Arrest; Felony Theft and a traffic warrant.
He is being held in the Galveston County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $173,503.00
