UPDATE 3:45PM

HARRIS COUNTY - The man police from several jurisdictions have been chasing since Sunday has been found dead in an abandoned house in the Heritage Park subdivision of Harris County off Bay Area Blvd.

Joshua World, 29, had been on the run and managed to slip past police then abandoned his car, lost his cellphone, and apparently made his way on foot to the abandoned house.

A platoon of officers sweeping the area came upon the abandoned house. It is not clear whether World was already dead when officers arrived or if his killed himself after finding himself pinned down in the house. He fired a shot into his own head.

Officers are still on the scene.

2:45PMUPDATE from The Police News

WEBSTER - Houston Police Homicide Sgt. R. Chandler says fugitive Joshua World is wanted for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in a case where he is charged with shooting his girlfriend in the head.  Houston police conducted an investigation into the shooting of Jeanette Ochoa, 26, at her home on North Hagerman Street near Suburban Street. The shooting was reported at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. She is still in the hospital in critical condition.

The Police News also learned that a substantial team of police, including the League City SWAT Team, U.S. Deputy Marshals and Friendswood Police, went to World's apartment Sunday night in League City to arrest him.  They reportedly waited for him to come outside before effecting the arrest.  When he came out and spotted the police, he got to his car and sped away with police in pursuit.

Officers with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitives Task Force tried to serve an arrest warrant to Joshua World, 29, at his apartment complex in League City on Sunday.

World fled from Houston police and U.S. Marshals at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday and led them on a chase through League City, Dickinson, Webster and Friendswood, firing gunshots toward authorities.

World headed north on the Gulf Freeway where he found Webster Police waiting for him.  As he sped past a Webster Police SUV he fired a shot through the back window.  It lodged in the doorjam beside the officer's head.

The chase went on towards Friendswood where Friendswood Police attempted to lay a spike strip across the roadway, but the string on the strip broke sending the strip uncontrollably into the roadway.  Fugitive World evaded the strip but it caused traffic behind him to come to a stop interferring with pursuing police units.  Friendswood Police abandoned the chase after that.

However, later World's getaway vehicle was discovered in the Target Store parking lot on Bay Area Blvd. with bullet holes in it.  Police have not said who fired those shots.  Police also reportedly recovered World's cellphone on the ground a distance from the car.

Shortly after noon today, Friendswood Police Chief Bob Weiner was leading a search for World in the area of the Challenger Mini Warehouses on FM-528 near Webster.

Chief Weiner said officers swept the area are the Target Store on Bay Area Blvd north of FM-528 all around the mini warehouses and Lansdown-Moody Equipment Co.

Weiner says World is now wanted by Webster Police for charges as serious as the Houston charge since he shot a police car almost killing or injurying an officer.  He may also face charges of Evading Arrest, Assault to Murder a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment and others.

World is said to be diabetic and without his medication. K-9's from the Texas Prison System are now in the area searching the large wooded area.  There is the possibility World suffered gunshot wounds or is incapacitated from diabetes.

Ideally getting him just as he gets in the car works very well... most of the time. Sometimes things happen and things don't go as planned.
