Crhistopher Mayfield (L) and Floyd Wilson

FORT BEND COUNTY - Eyewitnesses from two neighborhoods and alert Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies helped capture two burglars.

The arrests cleared two residential burglary cases in the Cinco Ranch area, and, after additional investigation, as many as eight cases in Harris County were connected to the same men.

Facing two counts of Burglary of a Habitation are Christopher Mayfield, 22, of Katy, and Floyd Wilson, 24, of Houston.

On Jan. 29, 2013, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 2700 block of Zachary Bend Lane in the Woodhaven section of Cinco Ranch. When they arrived, they were told by a neighbor of the home that had been burglarized that she had seen a black SUV with one person in it and saw one other person get into the vehicle and leave.

Earlier, a resident in the 3900 block of Diamondale Court saw a suspicious vehicle and took a photo of  it with her phone. The vehicle happened to be a black SUV. A deputy arrived a few minutes later in response to an alarm and the neighbor showed the deputy the photo.

Deputies on patrol were alerted to the description of the vehicle and they found one matching that description in the parking lot of a retail store on Westheimer Parkway. It was a black Nissan SUV.

They detained the two occupants and in the meantime the two witnesses were brought to the site. Both identified the vehicle as the one they saw at the burglary sites and one witness identified one of the men in the case.

Fort Bend County detectives searched one of the men's homes and recovered stolen property that helped clear eight Harris County cases. Additional charges against the two are expected regarding the eight other cases.

Both men were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail under $10,000 bonds for each Fort Bend County burglary. Mayfield posted bail and was released, while Wilson remains in jail.
