BACLIFF, Texas -- A Galveston County man and woman were arrested Sunday after deputies found a body wrapped in plastic inside a Bacliff trailer.

Officials said there were signs that an attempt had been made to clean up the scene.

The suspects, 26-year-old Samantha Escobedo-Resendez and 31-year-old German Perez-Velasquez admitted to police that they wrapped the body in plastic.

PRESS RELEASE
Galveston County Sheriff's Office

Galveston County Sheriff's deputies made a grisly find after a man and woman said they left a body in a mobile home.

Shortly after 3:30 PM yesterday, two persons went to the police station in Kemah reporting they left the body of a male acquaintance in a Bacliff mobile home.  Deputies responded to the home in the 3700 block of Harmony Lane and, once inside, found the man's body, wrapped in plastic, in one of the bedrooms.

Sheriff's detectives and crime scene technicians came to the scene to comb for evidence.  Investigators also interviewed the man and woman that reported the body, learning of what may have been an altercation involving them and the deceased.  After the altercation during which the victim died, the two allegedly took the body, wrapped it in plastic, and covered up evidence of the death.

A cause of death has not yet been determined.  An autopsy is scheduled for today by the Galveston County Medical Examiner.  The victim's identity has also not yet been released, pending location of family.

Late yesterday, after consulting with prosecutors, investigators charged Samantha Escobedo-Resendez, 26, of Bacliff, and German Perez-Velasquez, 31, of Galveston, with Tampering with Physical Evidence.  They remain in custody at the Galveston County Jail under bonds of $100,000 each.

Sheriff's detectives are continuing their probe today into the circumstances surrounding this death.
