Galveston Municipal Police Association holds blood drive for two Galveston Police Officers in need

(Galveston, TX) June 4th , 2014 – On Thursday, June 5th , The Galveston Municipal Police Association will be holding a Blood Drive for Officers Carl Lomax and Chris Sanderson.

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Blood Bank will be stationed in front of the Galveston Law Enforcement Facility at 601 54th Street, from 9:00am to 3:00pm accepting all those who can donate.

In conjunction with the blood drive, the GMPA is holding a barbeque fund raiser at the station to help offset medical expenses for Officers Lomax and Sanderson, offering a chopped brisket or sausage link lunch with chips and drink for $8.00. Lulu’s The Salon will also be on hand to shave fellow police officers heads in a sign of solidarity and support for their recovering brothers.

Officer Lomax is currently in the hospital recovering from brain surgery after suffering a massive stroke and Officer Sanderson is currently battling Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer that has come out of remission for the 5th time. The blood drive will help replenish any blood that either of the two officers will use, and all proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the officer’s medical funds.

The Galveston Police Department would like to encourage the community of Galveston to come donate blood and show their support for two of their own on Thursday.
