Limited Overnight Parking will be Allowed for the First Weekend Parades

GALVESTON - City leaders will allow limited overnight parking along Galveston's Seawall Boulevard during the first weekend of Mardi Gras! Galveston 2013. The public will be able to park their properly registered vehicles and trailers beginning at 8 AM

Thursday, January 31, 2013

. All vehicles and trailers must be removed no later than 6 AM Sunday, February 3, 2013

. Drivers parking along the roadway in advance of Thursday will be cited and towed for violating the City's No Parking from 3:00AM - 5:00AM regulation.

Available parking spots along Seawall are likely to fill up rapidly in anticipation of first weekend parades. The Galveston Police Department reminds residents and visitors of parking protocol:

Do not try to cover space with anything other than a properly registered vehicle or trailer

Cones, chairs, ropes, chains and the like will be removed at the owners' expense

There will be a number of areas along the Seawall designated as no parking zones or restricted access areas. The City reminds all revelers to take note of these areas when parking their vehicles.

Please note, implementation of paid parking along Seawall Boulevard will occur after Mardi Gras. For additional information, please contact the City of Galveston at (409) 797-3520 or info@cityofgalveston.org

Comments:

Hey all you Mardi Gras revelers, make sure you get up after a couple hours of sleep and move your RVs at 6 am Sunday morning for some dumb reason. Another boneheaded move by the Galvetraz numbskulls.

Just came from the seawall and it's already packed with campers,rv's, trailers, gonna be a lot of pissed off people tomorrow morn if they actually tow and write tickets. We'll see

6a.m. Sunday morning!!!!! This doesn't make any sense .. another high paid city official that has NO common sense!!!!!!

Before you use the word dumb maybe you should look at yourselves and read between the lines. They really want all the eyesore trailers off the seawall .

Keo- Are you going to be there at 6 am on Sunday to see them? Highly doubtful. 9 am would be a more reasonable hour to have them moved by.
