Investigators with Constable Mark Herman's Emissions Task Force Unit conducted an investigation in regards to suspects allegedly conducting unlawful inspections at Five Star Inspections and Auto Sales located in the 5700 block of Airline Drive. This location is a licensed State vehicle inspection station. The investigation revealed that the defendants, Mir Ali and Rana Salman were conducting fraudulent vehicle inspections using a procedure called “clean scanning”.

The investigation conducted by Constable Herman’s Office revealed that over a one year period, Mir Ali and Rana Salman conducted numerous unlawful inspections valued at an estimated $160,000.00 in illicit revenue.

Constable Investigators filed two felony arrest warrants each on Mir Ali and Rana Salman for Tampering with a Governmental Record.  Mir Ali is currently out on bond and awaiting trial. Rana Salman is currently wanted. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you are urged to call our dispatch or your local law enforcement.

“This type of criminal activity contributes to health threatening pollution. In addition, it affords the opportunity for unsafe vehicles to be driven on a public roadway due to not meeting the minimum safety standards. Illicit money gained from these types of activities is often used to fund other criminal activities.” – Constable Mark Herman
