Help Us Identify This Robbery Suspect

On May 30th, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Cedar Park Police Officers responded to a report of an Aggravated Robbery where the victim was followed from Chase Bank at 1485 Cypress Creek Road to a nearby apartment complex at 1600 S Lakeline Blvd.  As the victim was walking from his vehicle to an apartment, he was hit in the back of the head and knocked to the ground.  The suspect continued to hit him in the abdomen before grabbing an envelope with $500.00 cash from his pocket.  The suspect then got into a black vehicle and left the area.  Review of apartment surveillance showed that the suspect vehicle may be a Honda Civic with paper plates.

The victim is a 68-year-old Vietnam Vet and was at the apartment complex helping a friend move. He was medically treated and is recovering from injuries.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 30 years of age, around 6 feet tall and roughly 170 pounds.  A sketch of the suspect is attached.  The victim said there may have been another black male in the vehicle but was unable to provide further details.

If you have any information about the identity of the suspect in this case, please contact Detective Marie Reinarz at 512-260-4880 or via email at marie.reinarz@cedarparktexas.gov. You may also submit an anonymous tip by texting the keyword CPPD and your tip to 847411 or use the CPPD Tips app available for download on your phone. Please reference Case # 1805-0509 in your communication with us.

We want to take this time to remind residents of the danger of "jugging" — a crime that occurs when criminals follow people exiting banks in order to rob them.

Please be aware of your surroundings, conceal any cash before leaving a bank, do not hide cash in your car and watch for people following you. If you suspect you are being targeted, call 9-1-1 so a dispatcher can pinpoint your location and respond accordingly.
