Brenard Eugene Massie, age 70 of Texas City, Texas passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018. Brenard was born on July 1, 1947 in Laurel, Mississippi, and was a resident of Texas City for over 50 years. He was Christian by faith and worked as a Texas City police officer for 10 years, retired from Union Carbide after 16 years of service and would spend the next 12 years teaching at the College of the Mainland.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dickie Ann Massie, parents, Irene Langley and William Eugene Massie, sister, Alice Cortinas.

Brenard is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Massie, Jamie Thrash and husband Justin, sisters, Christine Priesmeyer, Patty Massie-Boto, Kathie Johnson and husband Millard, grandsons, Dylan Thrash and Cole Thrash, brother in law, Eddie Meadows and wife Betty Jane, Jerry Meadows and wife Leona, Armando Cortinas, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
