The Copperas Cove Police Department recently unveiled a social media campaign to help apprehend wanted persons. The Copperas Cove Most Wanted publication has yielded four felony arrests in less than a month’s time. We are excited about the early success of this program as it also establishes how much more effective we are when working together as a community.
The Department’s Facebook page has recently grown to over 11,000 followers. In addition, the Department has established a Twitter page and a Nextdoor page to better communicate with citizens. We recognize that social media can play a critical role in the reduction of crime in Copperas Cove and will strive to take full advantage of this resource. Our social media pages can be located as listed below;
Facebook: @copperascovepolice or https://www.facebook.com/copperascovepolice/
Twitter: @CovePolice or https://twitter.com/CovePolice
Nextdoor: https://nextdoor.com/
In addition to the social media push, the Department recently unveiled Cove Watch program and it is already nearing 1000 participants. The Cove Watch program sends out texts and/or email alerts to residents to keep them informed of certain crime and other events going on in the community. One component of Cove Watch is the Video Surveillance Partnership Program. This program is a database made up of residential and business surveillance cameras throughout the community that can help us identify criminal activity and offenders. The high number of participants already in this program shows us how important public safety is to our citizens.
The benefits of citizens and police working together can be seen and felt throughout the entire community. The Copperas Cove Police Department is proud of the partnership with our citizens and look forward to continued growth in our community policing efforts.
