Paris police responded to a theft call at 8:48 A.M. on June 14, 2017 in the 1200 block of W Sherman St. It was reported that someone had cut a hole in the fence surrounding the power transfer station and had stolen several copper ground cables. The cost to replace the cables was estimated at $1,500. The investigation is ongoing. 31 year old Gerald Russell Bridgers, of Paris, was arrested at 4:55 P.M. on June 14, 2017 in the 3300 block of FM 79 where officers had responded to a motor vehicle accident. It was reported that Bridgers had crossed the center stripe and had collided with another vehicle. The investigation led officers to search and find narcotics in Bridgers’ backpack. Bridgers was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. No injuries were reported from the accident.
