When deputies arrived, they found a deceased, white female at the water’s edge. The deceased is possibly the woman who was reported missing on Monday, June 12, 2017, after she went into the water to help her son.  The location of the body was approximately 2 miles away from where the woman was last seen.  A tattoo matching the description of the young lady reported missing was discovered on the body today. A confirmation of the identity of the subject will be determined by the medical examiner at a later time.

This is so sad but shows the love for her child that no matter the danger, she was determined to save him

God Bless You, Mom !
He has His eye on the sparrow.
He surely sees You.

So sad. Glad the little boy lives at least.

This is so sad. I pray that this little boy is surrounded by love and caring family members. To grow up knowing that your mother died for you is a heavy cross to carry for the rest of your life.

It's very sad indeed to hear of such things as this. The people coming to the beaches here in the Galveston and Bolivar areas NEED to Pay Attention to warnings that may pop up from time to time..i.e. RIP CURRENT WARNINGS.
The contour of the ground beyond the waters edge changes. There are sand bars spaced apart and in between are deep guts, channels where water currents can SUCK you under water.
It seems there is a high percentage of people, young and old, that swim in these waters w/o a PFD..personal flotation device. Your choice. I'll admit I didn't wear one either when I swam in these areas,BUT I adhered to the warnings.
Be safe out there...enjoy your Summer.
BTW: this goes for the swimming in the Tx City Dike area as well.
