WANTED: ARMED BANK ROBBER WHO THREATENED TO DETONATE BODY SPRAY CAN

Up to $5,000 Cash Reward

(HOUSTON, TX) - The FBI Violent Crime Task Force needs the public’s help in identifying and locating the armed man who robbed a Capital One bank in west Houston on Friday, May 12, 2017. Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering a reward of up to $5,000 in cash for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the man. Bank surveillance photographs are attached and can also be found on Twitter @FBIHouston and @miFBIHouston.

The man walked in to the Capital One bank located at I-10 and Studemont at about 5:40 p.m. on Friday, May 12 and approached a teller. He asked to make a withdrawal and when the teller handed him a withdrawal slip, the man dropped a plastic bag over the counter and produced a small black pistol, which he held on the counter. The suspect demanded for cash to be put in the bag. He then placed a can of Axe body spray on the counter and threatened to detonate the can as though it were a bomb. The teller was in fear for her life and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect collected the cash, his pistol, and spray can and left the bank. He was last seen running southbound on Studemont. No one was physically hurt.

The bank robber is described as a thin, white male between 45 and 60 years old, approximately 5’6” tall, with short, gray hair. He wore a long-sleeve, light green and blue plaid button-up shirt, light blue jeans, and gray sneakers. He also wore a gray baseball cap and sunglasses. He was missing several of his front teeth except for the front right tooth.
