A security guard who was just doing his job ended up catching a wanted murder suspect.

Mike Tijerina tackled a suspected shoplifter Saturday at the West Hill Mall in Huntsville and held him until Huntsville police arrived.

It turned out the theft suspect was wanted for capital murder in Houston.

Houston police have been looking for 22-year-old Anthony “Yolie” Johnson, who is charged for the shooting death of 35-year old Jawon Carson.

Carson was reportedly shot at his Houston home on December 8, and then his body was dumped under a bridge on Richey Road.
Johnson initially gave Huntsville police a fake name, but he was later positively identified. Police said they recovered a gun from the car he was driving.

Houston police almost caught Johnson once before, back in February. They received a tip on his whereabouts but he ran away when officers arrived. Police said they searched the car he’d reportedly been driving, which was stolen, and found a pistol and at least two credit cards stolen in an aggravated robbery earlier that day.

A second suspect, 20-year-old Rasheed Shelton, is charged with tampering with evidence in the same case. He is being held at Harris County Jail.
