PRESS RELEASE
Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office
Sheriff Troy E. Nehls
Bob Haenel, Spokesperson
For Immediate Release

Detectives investigating the double homicide in a Katy-area subdivision have found a weapon in the vehicle connected to the case.

At 5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, Michael Robert Walton and his wife, Lynda Renee Walton, were found murdered at their residence in the 24900 block of North Pointe Place in the Lake Pointe Estates subdivision.

The Waltons were last seen alive at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 29.

The suspect in the case, one of the couple’s four children, Ryan Walton, 20, was apprehended Saturday, May 31 in Rosenberg.

He was driving his mother’s car, which he took from the residence on May 29.

Detectives working the case sought and received a search warrant for the vehicle. On Tuesday, June 3, detectives searched the vehicle and found a .22 caliber rifle, which will undergo ballistic testing.

During the initial investigation, detectives determined the Waltons were shot multiple times with a small-caliber weapon.

During interviews, Ryan Walton admitted he shot his parents to death on May 29.

The investigation continues.
