PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

6/3/2014

FORT WORTH, TX -

Shortly after 5:00 a.m. Fort Worth Fire Crews were dispatched to 1021 Winnie St for a reported residential structure fire.

E-24 arrived on scene of a large 2 story house with heavy fire coming from the second floor.

As crews prepared to enter the house, occupants were self evacuating. The fleeing occupants advised the fire crews that two people were trapped on the second floor.

Fire crews directed every effort to search and rescue. With fire venting through the roof, FWFD deployed 4 attack lines into the house. Arriving companies set ladders to the second floor, and made entry to the second floor without the protection of a hose line. Despite deteriorating conditions fire crews maintained an aggressive interior operation, in hopes of locating the trapped persons.

Ultimately the victims were located, deceased, on the second floor of the home. Pending confirmation from the M.E., they are being identified as an elderly female and an adult female.

Three adults, one child, and one infant were able to escape the home.

The fire was placed under control at 5:53.

Resources used: Total 2 Alarms, (57 personnel and 24 apparatus)

Damage estimates were unavailable at time of report.

Fire Investigation is ongoing at this time, cause and origin will be updated as available.
