With a knife pressing into the corner of his mouth, Calvin Anderson reacted as his instincts told him to: Using a Glock 26 loaded with hollow-point bullets, he shot the man he says was his assailant.
After the incident Oct. 14 on Candelario Street off West San Francisco Street, Anderson, 67, never told police that he feared for his life. But he feels the shooting was justified.
"It took me a second or two to realize he had me and was sawing at my mouth," Anderson said. "The minute I shot the guy, we both fell to the ground."
