Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo announced a new tracking system Thursday that he said will allow officers to avoid dangerous high-speed pursuits.

For at least a year, some police vehicles will be equipped with technology from the company StarChase that propels a sticky dart-like GPS tracking device to fleeing vehicles.
