SANTA FE - Galveston County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a robbery during which a small amount of cash was taken.
About 7:35pm on January 3rd, 2013, a white man entered the Bombay Game Room, in the 19800 block of State Highway 6 in Santa Fe, Texas. The robber used force on the clerk, demanding cash. The attendant told deputies the robber grabbed the money and ran from the game room. A patron fired shots at the fleeing bandit who got into a white small vehicle and sped away.
Witnesses got a license plate off of the vehicle and detectives traced it and made contact with the owners.
On January 23rd, the detective learned of the robbers identity. He later called the detective and wanted to turn himself in.. The detective met with him in Houston.
The vehicle used in the robbery was there and had bullet holes in it which matched the witness description.
Francisco Javier Mendoza, 21, of Pasadena gave the detective a videotaped confession and said the other people involved have returned to Mexico. Mendoza is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail on $60,000.00 bond.
Deputies did not say what kind of force was used on the game room clerk during the robbery, nor did they say what charge was filed on Mendoza. Even though there was no mention of a firearm being used, we assume the charge was Robbery.
