KALAMAZOO, MI - A man who police say was a suspect in a domestic assault was shot and killed Thursday night by a Kalamazoo Public Safety officer who confronted him in the lobby of an East Cork Street hotel, investigators confirmed early today.
The 34-year-old, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at Bronson Methodist Hospital following the 10 p.m. shooting at the Best Western Hospitality Inn, 3640 East Cork St.
The officer who shot the man was sent home after the shooting and has been placed on administrative leave, which is department policy, KDPS Chief Jeff Hadley said.
