LA MARQUE - When a police patrol officer stopped a car Tuesday for a traffic violation, a teenage boy jumped out of the car, ran to the officer and told him the people in the car had kidnapped him.

It all happended about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the event which developed into a wide search by several law enforcement untis, brought several phone calls to the The Police News office.

Police say after the boy jumped and ran from the car, the car took off with police in pursuit.  The pursuit ended on Bayou Road at Scott Street where the two occupants abandoned the car, fled on foot and eluded police.

We expect to have more information and possibly descriptions of the men who got away.

PRESS RELEASE

On January 15th, 2013 at approximately 2:45PM while in the 1700 block of Lake Road an Officer was monitoring traffic in a school zone. The Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding; this was done in the 2200 block of Scott.

In the course of the traffic stop a white male juvenile exited the vehicle from a passenger side and claimed to have been kidnapped. It was at this time the vehicle fled away.

A short time later the vehicle was found abandoned in the 1800 block of Bayou. Officers with the La Marque Police Department, Texas City Police Department, and Galveston County Sheriffs Office set up a perimeter on the area. A La Marque Police K9 was utilized in the search of the suspects but after an extensive search the suspects were not located.

The juvenile in this case did not require any medical treatment. The La Marque Police Department can say with certainty that this case is not involving a child that was randomly kidnapped; therefore there is not immediate concern for residents within the City of La Marque.

This is an on-going investigation at the La Marque Police Department. Anyone with information is requested to contact La Marque Police Department or La Marque Crime Stoppers.
