BEAUMONT - A man shot by police early Friday has been identified as John Michael Bledsoe, a 28-year-old man from Beaumont. Bledsoe has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Service and is being held on $150,000 bond.

It all started when Beaumont Police officers answered the call of a disturbance shortly before 6 a.m., Friday, in the 3200 block of North 10th Street in Beaumont which involved an woman who told dispatchers she had been assaulted.

The 22-year-old woman, who was waiting outside the house when police arrived, told the officers three men were inside the house and had been drinking.

As officers spoke with the woman, a 28-year-old white man came out of the house carrying a shotgun and was shot by one of the officers  The man was transported to a hospital in Beaumont with non-life threatening injuries.
