Tuesday Santa Fe police officers were requested to assist Galveston County Sheriff's deputies with a possibly suicidal woman in the 15200 block of Navigation.
Jessica Demerice Farmer, 23, formerly of Splendora, Texas was initially cooperative and placed in an ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
EMS personnel later called police for assistance. Less than 100 yards from where they had picked her up, Farmer got out of the ambulance and was walking on the roadway.
As an officer attempted to detain her for her own safety, she hit him in the side with her fist.
The officer was able to restrain her in handcuffs and transport her to Santa Fe Police Headquarters.
Ultimately Farmer was charged with Assault on a Public Servant.
Farmer was later transferred to the Galveston County jail where she is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The Sheriff's Office did not post Farmer's photo on it's website as it does most other inmates even though it was a violent offense against a police officer.
