GALVESTON - Today I had the privilege of visiting with Major Henry Trossesett, a 28 year veteran of the Galveston County Sheriffs Office, now a candidate for the top job in that office.

We sat down for coffee Friday morning in the 61st Street Diner in Galveston and he explained why he wants to be Sheriff and why Galveston County voters should elect him.

To hear our conversation, click on CLICK TO LISTEN at the top of this page.

Breck Porter (L) and Henry Trossesett (R)

Comments:

Great interview. He sounds very knowledgable of the ins and outs of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. Good luck Henry. I know you will do a great job.

Posted by Pete at 11/19/2011 7:24:40 AM

Wow. I absolutely agree with what he is saying. I didn't know the jail has cut that much from their budget. In Caldwell's interview he said the GCSO jail was not efficient at all and wastes money. Now i know that they aren't. Caldwell also said Harris County jail was a premeire place and run very efficiently. Well after listening to this interview it sounds like he is wrong. I did not know they failed a suprise inspection because they did not have enough deputies per inmates. I also like what he said about civil service and how he has talked to people about it and they all say that usually the deputies that show up for work and do a good job very rarely use it. It's mainly used from the deputies that call in a lot or just have poor performance in general. He sounds like a good conservative man with strong moral values. And he sings in the church choir. Henry has my vote. Singing Major for Sheriff 2012!!!

Posted by Hoss at 11/19/2011 7:31:44 AM

Major Trochesset is the right man for the Sheriff position! He is truly the most qualified candidate for this very important position in our county! Vote for experience and integrity...vote for Henry Trochesset for Sheriff.
God bless Galveston County!

Posted by Jeri at 11/19/2011 1:49:05 PM

Henry is a great man. I grew up with he and his family in my neighborhood. While I no longer live in the county and since cannot vote, I would offer the shirt off my back to his cause. I can honestly say that the values given to me by he and his family, no matter how much I didn't want to listen as a young man, have been a driving force in my ability to become a successful and influential part of my own community. Do not make a judgement on the words you hear of the man; make judgement of the mans actions. I believe you will find nothing but an unwavering example of Pride, Respect, and Holiness in Henry Trochesset. Values that any community should seek in their leader

I have heard most of the interviews and it all sounds good. BUT it still nothing but Lip service the same old thing we have heard from the Sheriff Office. Good luck Henry but I still believe we need some new blood running the County. Sorry

Posted by maddog at 11/21/2011 3:07:59 PM

Good job Henry....

Posted by Kwilliams at 12/1/2011 2:57:04 PM

Maddog, First off, why don't you use your real name? Second off, how is that "lip service" and "the same old thing". You must not work for the GSO. I have been here 21 years and the GSO is by far the best agency in Galveston County to work for. I have seen what goes on here and what goes on at other agencies in this county....We may not be the top paying agency, but by far we have the best working environment. We need some changes, but not major changes. We, like law enforcement and the military, are like one big family. We may not always agree with our family members, but no one can come into this agency and have the dedication and devotion like someone already invested in this agency. There is one thing I can personally say about Henry and that is: He does what he says he going to do. Henry has gone up to bat for me, when he knew I was right regardless of politics. Henry is a man of integrity. What is your name and how do you come to your conclusions? Thanks

Posted by kwilliams at 12/2/2011 7:16:27 AM

Maddog..I just noticed that you are a big Bill Young fan...Your name wouldn't happen to be Ross would it?

Posted by kwilliams at 12/3/2011 9:24:28 AM

kwilliams I think you hit the nail on the head!!!! H. Trochesset for Sheriff

Posted by notacop at 12/3/2011 2:27:58 PM

You don't have to post this, but in fairness it seems that you could spell Henry Trochesset correctly. If you don't want to post comments that don't favor your man at least spell the other candidate's name correctly and if you're going to host interviews at least don't show bias.

Posted by notacop at 12/3/2011 3:05:57 PM

kwilliams, why are you worried about who I'm supporting? You should be worrying about your own candidate. ?????

Posted by Ross McCammon at 12/4/2011 8:20:28 AM

I agree with your comment, He does what he says. The problem is he doesn't say he's going to do anything!

Posted by ernie at 12/4/2011 12:05:58 PM

Notacop., Is a cop.... Typical good O'le boy sheriff dept. mentality,,Blame someone else when you don't succeed,, Sorry your Candidate didn't do well.. Its hard to fool people in a recorded interview.. THE POLICE NEWS was NOT BIAS! The POLICE NEWS interviews were a VERY IMPORTANT and NEEDED part of this election..IT IS WHAT IT IS!! Live with it! GREAT JOB POLICE NEWS!!!!

Posted by Tommy at 12/4/2011 1:09:37 PM

K>Williams, One big happy family.??. Maybe the chosen few! So what are the Jail Deputies? Addopted,Red Headed Step children? Because were not treated like part of your Big Happy Family.. We need and want a change! Good Luck to any one except the 3 Happy Family members!

Posted by insider at 12/4/2011 4:52:25 PM

Just like my nickname states: Not a Cop! And never have been a cop! Tommy, you completely misunderstood my previous statement about bias. In my opinion, Trochesset and Pruitt performed the best during their interviews with Porter and provided the most knowledge! I agree that the interviews were needed and helpful to the voters. My reference to bias referred to the fact that I have previously submitted comments to this forum and they have not been posted for all to see. TROCHESSET FOR SHERIFF!

The reason your comments have not been posted is you don't follow the rules. Post your comments for your candidate on that candidates interview, not on his opponents. Don't blab on all the candidates interview about YOUR candidate. Blab only on his. Don't get on a candidates interview and bad mouth him or post your negative opinion of him. No one cares.
Breck Porter, Editor (My real name)

Posted by notacop at 12/4/2011 5:43:51 PM

Not a Cop, Sounds like your despereat, If the only way your candidate can win is to Bad Mouth his oponents we sure don't want him as our Sheriff! THANK You Mr. PORTER. Candidates supporters reflect the attitude of the candidate!

Posted by Tommy at 12/5/2011 7:51:59 AM

Show me them rules!!! I submitted facts not my opinion. Sorry about name wish my mother would have named me maddog ,see it say it ,insider, hoss. The list goes on and on. Then my name wouldn't be a problem. You had no problem posting there negative comments on this candidates interview. There opinions not facts. By the way look under the picture you still have his name spelled wrong. TROCHESSET FOR SHERIFF!

Posted by notacop at 12/6/2011 8:29:07 AM

I completely expected some unprofessional responses from some of the listeners/readers of these interviews. And I have not been disappointed. I understand they just want their candidate to be elected. However, what I did not expect was such unprofessionalism from Mr. Porter. This was recently reflected in his own response to one of his readers. I was hoping that I and other county voters could utilize this site as a helpful tool for making such an important decision as who the next Sheriff of our county will be, but now I am not so sure. Mr. Porter, himself, states "No one cares." I disagree, I believe many people care. He uses the word "blab". Twice. I was hoping that at least Mr. Porter, the interviewer, could hold his temper. No wonder people are leary about using their real names. Thank you.

Posted by CountyVoter at 12/6/2011 5:54:54 PM

Who cares how its spelled. It's pronounced the same! And Mr. PORTER is doing a great job keeping the trash off the comments.. DO YOU THINK YOUR THE ONLY ONE THAT DOESN"T HAVE YOUR TRASHY COMMENTS POSTED? NOT!!!!!!!! BUT WERE NOT CRYING ABOUT IT!!!!
