LAKE JACKSON - Concerned that owners of a sexually oriented businesses turned down by Clute might make their way to Lake Jackson, City Council
decided no sexually oriented business can set up shop in the city for the next six months.
City Council approved a six-month moratorium at its meeting Monday on issuing permits to sexually oriented businesses.
The current zoning ordinance does not specifically address sexually oriented businesses, Russell said.
"I thought if they can't go to Clute, they can just go a street over to us," City Attorney Sherri Russell said.
