FORT WORTH, TX - Members of the Fort Worth Fire Department's Arson/Bomb Unit have arrested a local man for arson after a Wal-Mart SuperCenter at 2401 Avondale-Haslet Rd. was set on fire the morning of July 3rd, 2017.  Investigators arrested Gilberto Hernandez, 36, of Fort Worth, on July 6th, after surveillance footage showed him leaving the Wal-Mart after the fire was set.  Hernandez confessed to the arson during an interview with fire investigators and stated that he intended to rob the cash drawers during the fire.  Damage costs to merchandise from the fire are estimated to be around $55,000 dollars.  The Wal-Mart was closed through the 3rd of July due to smoke and water damage.  Restoration costs and lost sales are still being determined but will be substantial.  Hernandez is being held at the Tarrant County Correction Center, his bond has been set at $50,000 dollars.
