A Baytown man who pleaded guilty to forcing a teenager to work as a prostitute has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Scott Rodney Robinson, 46, was convicted of aggravated compelling of prostitution, a first-degree felony.

Harris County prosecutors said the girl told authorities Robinson forced her into prostitution after he found out she was having sex with boys, telling her that if she was going to act like a prostitute then she might as well be one, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

"The facts showed that Scott Robinson forced (the teenager) into the depths of the illegal sex industry," said JoAnne Musick, chief of the Harris County District Attorney's Office sex-crimes unit. "His depravity earned him decades in state prison."

The man made the girl work the tractor-trailer rigs parked at truck stops, offering sex in exchange for money that he then took from her, prosecutors said. The girl said she had multiple customers a night.

Robinson was sentenced by state District Judge Brad Hart.

He was first arrested in June 2015 after an undercover investigation by the Houston Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes the FBI and the Houston Police Department's vice section, the district attorney's office said.

The investigation got help from an anonymous tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Robinson was "pimping" the girl, who was 16 at the time. The tip linked to an escort ad on the website BackPage.com, according to court records.
