Judge Kerry Neves
Judge Kerry Neves
February, 3, 2013
Special to The Police News

HITCHCOCK- Galveston County Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady announced Friday that District Court Judge Kerry Neves has sentenced Joshua Wayne Hargraves to 50 years in prison upon Hargraves' guilty plea to two offenses of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Disabled Person, and has further sentenced Hargraves to the maximum of 20 years in prison for the offense of Indecency with a Child.

Prosecutors Jared Robinson and Xochitl Vandiver-Gaskin presented witnesses and evidence during the punishment hearing held before Judge Neves earlier this week.

Judge Neves heard from a life skills teacher's aide who testified that in February 2011 the 15-year-old victim, who is intellectually disabled, told her about the sexual assault. The school then immediately reported the incident to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

The victim also took the witness stand and, through questioning by Assistant District Attorney Robinson, informed the court of two instances in February 2011 when Hargraves sexually assaulted her near her High Island home.

The judge also heard evidence of a prior conviction for which Hargraves had been sentenced to prison as a juvenile for sexually assaulting the same victim in 2007.

Hargraves will not become eligible for parole until he serves at least 25 years of his 50 year sentence, according to the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole.

Comments:

I know now why I voted for Kerry. He is going to be a great Judge
