McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Thursday he would refuse to enforce new federal laws that restrict access to guns or ammunition, joining a growing list of sheriffs taking public stands against the Obama administration's gun control push.
"I'm not going to break the law, but I'm not going to enforce an unconstitutional law," McNamara, a former federal law enforcement officer, told the Tribune-Herald . "And I won't be breaking the law simply by not enforcing a federal law I feel to be unconstitutional."
McNamara, a Republican, also said he would not participate in a national gun registry, saying Adolf Hitler used the same tactic before confiscating guns in Germany.
