DICKINSON - A man and his young son were shocked Tuesday night as they were merging onto the Gulf Freeway in the father's pickup truck and suddenly hit a man who had dashed across the freeway after jumping over the center divider.

The 41-year old driver from Pearland said the man was wearing dark clothes and ran right into his truck as his attention was on freeway traffic as he was entering the freeway on the on-ramp.

18-year old Matthew Moore of Dickinson was hit and killed in the 6 p.m. accident.

Traffic on parts of the freeway were closed for several hours as accident reconstructionist investigated.

Investigators say no charges will be filed against the driver.
