Over two dozen people were rescued from the Nueces River at Chalk Bluff Park Sunday, according to the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office, after as much as 11 inches of rain fell over the area overnight and into the morning.

The sheriff's office posted an update at 1:45 p.m. that 27 visitors were rescued from high water at Chalk Bluff Park. They are receiving medical attention but no major injuries were reported, the post stated.

The Uvalde Fire Department and helicopters are completing a secondary sweep of the river for any other people, according to the sheriff's office.

At about 11:30 a.m. the sheriff's office posted video of a helicopter taking life vests to visitors stranded on a vehicle at Chalk Bluff Park.

Photos and video shared by the National Weather Service earlier Sunday showed a raging Nueces River after up to 8-9 inches of rain fell in the span of three hours earlier in the morning. One video was taken at the Mile 19 Bridge on Highway 55
