Below is a press release we sent last month related to a fatal hit and run incident we are investigating.  Our investigators have worked on this case and still have no leads.  If possible, I would like to ask you to disseminate this information again to the public in an effort to see if we can find someone who might have information that might assist us.   This victim left behind a 9-year old daughter and we need to bring justice for this family.

 

FATALITY HIT AND RUN CRASH

On February 7, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Plano Police Officers responded to a report of a male subject laying in the roadway in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 75, just south of Legacy Drive.

Upon officer’s arrival, they located a subject who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.  It is believed the victim may have been a pedestrian walking along the shoulder of the highway.  The victim was transported by Plano Fire Rescue to a local area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victim was identified as John Curtis Shelby, a 36-year old white male.  He was wearing brown pants, blue striped button-down shirt and had a shaved head and a full beard.

Plano Police Traffic Investigators are seeking assistance from the public for anyone who may have witnessed this victim being struck by a vehicle and are asking them to call Crime Stoppers at 877-373-8477.  Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

This investigation remains ongoing by the Plano Police Traffic Unit.
