At 4:45 am on Friday, March 2, 2018, a 911 caller reported that an intruder had entered her home in the 9000 block of Oliver Dr. and that multiple shots had been fired. When deputies arrived on scene they discovered the body of Theodore Shaughnessy, 55 of Austin. Mr. Shaughnessy sustained gunshot wounds.

Detectives and Crime Lab specialists worked into the night, meticulously combing through the residence for evidence that will help explain what happened. Evidence of entry into the home was discovered and it is believed that one or more intruders came inside. It is also believed, based on evidence at the scene, that an intruder may have been injured.

At this time, the suspect/s are unknown and at large. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the suspect/s may have known the homeowners. Until the suspect/s have been identified and arrested, TCSO recommends that neighbors be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior.

TCSO requests that anyone with information about this incident call the TCSO tip line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. It is also requested that homeowners and businesses in the immediate area of Oliver Drive who have surveillance video of the evening of March 1st and the early morning of March 2nd call the TCSO tip line. Video footage from vehicles with dash cams that were traveling on HWY 290 between Oak Hill and Dripping Springs during the 4:00 – 6:00 am time frame on March 2nd would also be helpful to detectives.
