A 24-year-old man suspected of driving under the
influence of drugs struck a squad car with two Dallas police officers
early Sunday in far northeast Dallas, authorities say.
The officers were taken to a hospital with head injuries that required stitches, a police spokeswoman said in a statement.
haven't released the name of the suspect because he hasn't been booked
in the jail yet. He faces a charge of driving while intoxicated.
The crash happened at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday
at the corner of Forest Lane and Audelia Road. According to police, the
officers were on eastbound Forest Lane in the left turn lane but then
tried to cross three lanes of traffic to turn southbound onto Audelia
Road. The suspect was also traveling on eastbound Forest Lane, in the
middle lane, and struck the squad car on the right-passenger side,
The squad car spun onto the northbound lanes of Audelia Road and hit a retaining wall, police said.
