The Austin City Council on Thursday delayed a vote on a $4 million body camera contract that might violate a court order.
On Tuesday, a state district court judge signaled
that their may be serious problems with the city’s new contract with
Taser International. Judge Karin Crump’s ruling temporarily bars the city from signing the contract even if the Council had approved it.
Crump called the city’s new deal with Taser an attempt to “run around” a previous court order that has prevented the city from buying police body cameras from Taser.
