ALTO, TX - More information will available next week about the officer involved shooting in Alto last month that left Eric Griffin dead. The 48-year-old Alto resident was fatally shot by officer Brandon Smith.
A city council meeting will be held Monday in Alto. The meeting calls for Chief of Police Jeremy Jackson to discuss statements from the Texas Rangers' investigation and the action of the investigation involving officer Smith. Smith is currently on paid administrative leave.
There is still little information available about the fatal shooting.
DPS spokeswoman Jean Dark said, Griffin attempted to rob Pick N Go, at 100 S. Marcus Street, in Alto. Smith confronted Griffin on Highway 69, where an exchange took place.
The autopsy on Griffin was performed at Dallas Forensic Center but results have not yet been made available pending the toxicology report.
