Tuesday Santa Fe Police received a call to investigate a burglary in the 13500 block of 18th St.

The resident reported returning home and finding a window up and a ladder moved away from the trailer. At first, he thought nothing of it, believing the wind had knocked the ladder over.

It was only after he discovered a bucket of quarters missing that he realized his home had been burglarized.  He estimated the bucket of quarters to be around $1500.

A quarter weighs 5.67 grams. There are 400 quarters in $100, so: 5.67 X 400 = 2268 grams and  2268 grams = 5 lbs
So, the bandit hauled off  6,000 quarters weighing 75 pounds.

The burglary is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this or any other incident is requested to contact the Santa Fe Police at 409-925-2000

Comments:

I wonder if he's going to roll them before he cashes them in for folding money?
Maybe he'll just take them to a bank and dump them all into the the change counting machine. No one will notice a person pouring 6000 quarters into the machine.

The GCDN states that the bucket of quarters weighs 750 pounds. Typo? No, not the GCDN!! ;)
