Beaumont Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help solving the homicide of a four year old little girl.

January the 15, 2013 was the one year anniversary of the death of Jakyra Leatrice Henderson- born December 1, 2008.

On January 15, 2012 at 6:58 am, Beaumont Police were called to 7080 Calder (Calder Woods Retirement Center) to assist EMS with a deceased child. The child was identified as Jakyra Henderson. Jakyra`s mother works at Calder Woods and had brought her boyfriend, Jakyra and Jakyra`s 5 year old brother to work with her at 6 a.m. The boyfriend and the two children stayed in the activity room while the mother worked. About an hour later the mother went to check on Jakyra and she was not breathing.

The mother said Jakyra had been sick off and on from November 2011. That night and the previous day she had been rolling around on the floor, holding her stomach and vomiting.

The autopsy revealed Jakyra`s liver was compressed against the vertebrae of her spine and lacerated from blunt force trauma and the head of the pancreas had been hemorrhaging. Jakyra was dehydrated and had been suffering.

If you have any information about Jakyra`s death, contact Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-8477 (TIPS) or go to www.BeaumontCrimeStoppers.com or text BMT plus your tip to CRIMES. All tips are anonymous and you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
